One of my favorite movies that I never get tired of (ironically) watching over and over is “Groundhog Day” with Bill Murray.
The story of Phil Connors is an appropriate inspiration this Groundhog Day, especially with the Covid-19 virus and our long quarantining.
Bill Murray transforms himself into someone Andie MacDowell could love by using Groundhog Day to teach himself to become a better man, friend and person. Perhaps you can use the day to be inspired to do the same with your art and your life.
Bill Murray’s character gives a great speech at one point in the movie:
“When Chekhov saw the long winter, he saw a winter bleak and dark and bereft of hope. Yet we know that winter is just another step in the cycle of life. But standing here among the people of Punxsutawney and basking in the warmth of their hearths and hearts, I couldn’t imagine a better fate than a long and lustrous winter.”
